3D Modeling - For 3D Printing

Let's jump into the world of 3D Modeling and learn how to build specific models best suited for 3D Printing. Let's learn about the local resources for getting designs printed....and let's go one step further and briefly discuss painting our models for achieving better detail. 3rd grade and up.

About The Event

Let's use one of the most intuitive and educational 3D Modeling programs there is, Tinkercad, to create and save our designs best suited for 3D Printing.  We'll discuss best practices when designing our models to achieve the most optimal 3D print.  We'll discuss the slicing software....that's what happens after you have your model saved and exported for the preperation of 3D printing.  This class is designed to give the beginning modeler a head start on pursuing more advanced models and prints.  We won't have time to print any models in this class but we will have time to finalize our creations and save them for sending to a local library, makerspace, or online resource for printing.  We will also discuss best practices for painting models after they're printed.

STEM concepts for this class include 3D Modeling, Design, Creativity, Computers, and Technology.

Age recomendation is 3rd grade and up.  All classes will require a minimum of 6 students and a maximum of 14 students.

PARENT VOLUNTEER All classes this week have the option of hosting a parent volunteer.  One parent per class will be allowed on a first come basis and their student may attend at no cost.  Having a parent volunteer is critical to the success of these classes so I encourage you to attend and have fun with all the students and learn along with them.  No experience with the content is necessary.  Please contact me if interested.  Thank you.  Dustin McEntarfer
